Does South Metro Housing Options (SMHO) provide emergency housing or temporary housing?
Due to the type of funding we receive, SMHO is not able to provide emergency or temporary housing. Please see our resource guide for agencies that are able to provide this type of assistance.
How do I apply for housing?
Those interested in applying for housing with SMHO, may do so by joining a property’s waitlist when it is open (this is a pre-application) or apply for a unit at Powers Circle, which does not operate on a waitlist, but by available units. Those on a waitlist will be contacted by SMHO when your name approaches the top of the list. We will also ask for additional information and documentation.

The income limits for subsidized housing are between 80% AMI and 30% AMI depending on the program.
The income limits for SMHO’s tax credit property are 50% AMI and 60% AMI.
How long will I have to wait on the waiting list?
SMHO is unable to provide the duration of wait times. However, placement on waitlists are based on the date and time you add your name to the list. You can check your waitlist status anytime HERE and also update your information.
What types of housing does South Metro Housing Options provide?
South Metro Housing Options owns and operates approximately 400 subsidized units. The properties range from apartment communities to scattered single family homes and duplexes throughout Littleton.
The properties are available to anyone who meets the guidelines for the property.
Additionally, SMHO administers Housing Choice Vouchers and Foster Youth Vouchers.
What is the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program?
The Housing Choice Voucher Program was established to provide rental assistance to low-income families to obtain safe, decent, affordable housing in the private rental market.
Who funds the housing programs?
South Metro Housing Options receives both federal and state funds and ensures that all HUD and state regulations are followed on all aspects of subsidized housing.
