Project Based Vouchers
Project Based Vouchers
South Metro Housing Options (SMHO) administers a program known as Project Based Vouchers (PBV), which is part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) broader effort to provide affordable housing. Unlike tenant-based vouchers, which allow recipients to choose their rental units in the private market, PBVs are linked directly to specific units within the SMHO portfolio. This means that the rental subsidy is attached to the apartment itself, rather than to the tenant, ensuring that these units remain affordable for future tenants.
For SMHO’s newest property, Overlook at Powers Park, there is a preference for applicants aged 62 and older, reflecting an emphasis on providing supportive housing for seniors. This prioritization helps ensure that older adults have access to stable, affordable housing tailored to their needs within a supportive community environment.
